After Giuseppe Bolagnos died, his second-born son Carlo inherited the palace, but without heirs. Following the terms of Giuseppe’s testament, the building passed to the Ospedale Maggiore di Milano, which in 1759 sold it by auction to marquis Giuseppe Viani.
