In Hősök Temetője once stood Sopron’s military “hero cemetery” — a cemetery that opened in 1878 and stayed active until 1945. It lay on the western side of Alom-hegy, between the former Sopronbánfalva and Felsőlőverek, pressed right up against the municipal cemetery and the neighboring site of the former Pálos–Carmelite monastery.
